Ferry from Panyu to Hong Kong Airport Now Operational

The commute time from Guangzhou’s Baiyun International Airport to Hong Kong Airport just became substantially quicker.

On July 1, a new ferry route commenced operation, from Panyu to Hong Kong Airport, that has shortened commute time from roughly three hours to 100 minutes, according to Xinmin News.

The ferry, which can accommodate 350 passengers, departs from Panyu Lianhuashan Port twice daily, at 9.10am and 1.50pm. It will return to Guangzhou from Hong Kong at 11.20am and 4pm each day.

Economy class ferry tickets cost RMB300 for adults and RMB200 per child, while first class tickets cost RMB350 for adults and RMB250 per youth.

When first class just won’t cut it, the boat also offers a VIP class priced at RMB400 for adults and RMB300 for kids.

You can purchase tickets through the ferry’s WeChat account (WeChat ID: 莲花山客运港), Taobao or at the port.

In addition to cutting down commute time in each direction, the ferry offers a number of other helpful services. Ferry passengers can check in their luggage while boarding the vessel and will not need to pass through Hong Kong customs, according to Zhang Yu, the ferries general manager.

Getting to the Panyu port is, thankfully, not rocket science. The ferry offers a free shuttle service that runs from both Panyu Square Station (Metro Line 3) and Shiqi Station (Metro Line 4).

Lets hope this ferry has better luck than the Hong Kong ferry that collided with a cargo ship on route to Macao last year.
